Snap-In Dentures

What are Snap-In Dentures?

If you’re missing all of your teeth due to a dental condition or injury, you may want to consider snap-in dentures as a form of replacement teeth. Unlike conventional dentures, which can potentially slip out of place, snap-in dentures are more stable and versatile. Dental implants or screws placed within your jawbone hold snap-in dentures in place.

Snap-in-dentures are connected or “snapped” onto titanium posts implanted in your jawbone during minor oral surgery. An upper or lower denture can be connected to as few as two to four implants.

The tiny implants bond, or osseointegrate, to your jawbone and serve as artificial roots for your dentures. The bonding process usually takes about three to six months.

What Are The Benefits Of Snap-In-Dentures?

1. Increased Comfort

Irritation can be a problem if your dentures slip and slide against your gums. Snap-in-dentures are securely attached to your dental implants and won’t rub against your gums. They’re an excellent option for both upper and lower dentures and can be a particularly good choice if you’ve had trouble with the fit of lower dentures.

2. A Healthier Jaw

Your jawbone may begin to shrink after you’ve lost your teeth, causing facial sagging and poor denture fit. The problem occurs when the bone is no longer stimulated by your tooth roots. Luckily, your new dental implants will stimulate your jawbone and help reduce or prevent bone loss. If you’ve already experienced bone loss, you may need bone grafts before you can receive dental implants. The grafts build up your jawbone, ensuring that it’s deep enough to support implants.

3. Better Biting Power

A decrease in biting power can be an issue when you wear dentures. Without roots to support your new teeth, it’s difficult to eat tough, hard, or sticky foods. Fortunately, attaching your dentures to dental implants will improve your biting power and make mealtime more comfortable and enjoyable.

4. Easy Care

Snap-in-dentures don’t require any changes to your usual care routine. You’ll simply remove your dentures every night and clean them as usual. Snap-in-dentures help you improve your smile and your confidence. Your dentist can help you decide if the dentures are a good choice for you.
